EDUCATION SPECIALIST II

Overview:  The Education Specialist II position will be responsible for the successful integration of programs to increase public awareness & student performance.  This is a full-time highly visible public position, and requires an outgoing personality.  Will work with Education Specialist I in the development & implementation of all education programs and presentations, both on & off zoo grounds.  Maintain care of education animal collection.  Because of the nature of the zoo business, all zoo employees must be available to work weekends.

Qualifications:  A background in biological sciences and/or education is preferred. Experience with Grant writing and programming desired. Proven organizational, computer and writing skills.   Able to train and work with a variety of live animals and biofacts in a safe and secure manner.  Must be self-motivated and flexible in working with groups and programs. Weekend work and some evenings required.  Ability to deal tactfully with general public, volunteers, fellow employees and school groups.
